Merrifield City is the first component of a staged retail and industrial park development near the Hume Highway in Mickleham. Situated on the corner of the newly constructed Merrifield Boulevard and Donnybrook Road, this building holds a prominent location in this vibrant Melbourne growth corridor.

The development, comprising 21 specialty tenancies, a Coles and a Liquorland store, is the flagship site for the future retail expansion by MAB and QIC. The project’s design, detailing, and high-quality finishes were conceived by NH Architecture.

The building has a footprint of approximately 8500m2, with over 6500m2 NLA. In addition to the building envelope, the project incorporated extensive civil and landscaping elements, including car parking, loading docks and external feature hardscaping and coordination of the carriageway construction works on Donnybrook Road.

Recycled brick and patterned precast facades extend into the tenancy walls and retail mall. The building’s main roof structure features high, raking plywood soffits with a unique geometric pattern, intersecting with large steel elements and floating over clerestory windows above the retail malls.

The main saw-tooth roof design incorporates a centrally controlled natural ventilation system to reduce the mechanical services energy load.

Maben commenced construction in December 2019 and completed the project 12 months later, despite the challenges of COVID, on time and budget.
