The Victorian School Building Authority engaged Maben Group on a design and construction contract to manage the delivery of the Windsor Primary School project. The project significantly upgraded and modernized the existing Windsor Primary School.

Designed by Jackson Clements Burrows Architects, the Windsor Primary School project included the construction of 2 new school buildings, as well as the refurbishment of the existing heritage school, the new buildings integrated into the school building which was originally built in 1877.

Maben completed the project across three stages of construction commencing in April 2021 and finishing in June 2023. This project navigated the complexities of a live school environment with Windsor Primary continuing to operate throughout the build.

The first stage of construction included the demolition of existing classroom buildings, as well as the school’s play area. Stage 1 included the construction of Building C, a new single level building, that consisted of a new school staff room, and three specialty classrooms; Science, Art and Food Technology. A new fire service, and associated hard landscaping were also completed. Building C totalled 460sqm.

The second stage began in February 2022, which included the construction of Building D, a new three-storey building serving as a multipurpose facility, with a music studio, learning spaces and staff areas. Building D totalled 1464sqm. Stage 2 also included the delivery of the central school courtyard and associated landscaping, the external works across the project totalled 1765sqm.

The project also saw the red chapel façade design link the new Building C and Building D with the original 1877 school building.

The third, and final stage which began in January 2023, involved the internal strip-out and refurbishment of Windsor Primary School’s Building A, which first opened in 1877. Building A includes the school’s new library, senior staff offices, school administration and five classrooms. Building A totalled 973sqm.
