Maben Group undertook the 10,500sqm redevelopment of Box Hill Central as part of Vicinity’s vision to transform the shopping precinct into a market-leading destination. The project delivery included partial façade demolition, refurbishment and reconfiguration of the existing centre to create a new southern entry and common mall extension with mall widening.

Works also included a new Coles Supermarket, a new mini-major tenancy, fifteen new specialty retailers and four new dual-frontage restaurants to provide activation and engagement with the existing Carrington Street retail to the south of the centre.

Major ambience upgrades included new facades, floors, ceilings, furniture and lighting.

Through careful planning and coordination of subcontractors, the Maben delivery team also successfully replaced three travelators and a new customer lift connecting all levels of the carpark.

Management of staging and logistics of the project were required in a live environment, to ensure safety and public access throughout the project.

Despite the challenging nature of the site and COVID-19 disruptions, the project was delivered whilst creating minimal disturbance to the shopping centre trade across the delivery timeframe.
